Product Description
This release of mine has recently been updated, and 10 taped plate reverbs which were ‘resampled’ onto and off of reel to reel tapes were added! I used 3 different decks at different speeds, providing some variety in tone. These do sound different from the main plate programs and in many cases you’ll probably prefer them!
Here we have 2 more plate reverbs, sampled in stereo and with adjustable damper controls. The first one (I’ve named it Mercury) is another example of the most famous plate ever made (the same plate model I sampled four of for PoL 1 and 2). It’s the stereo model with the solid state amp, which I’ve already done two of (one each in PoL 1 and 2), but this one sounds very different from those two. As explained in more detail in the manual different plates even of the same model can sound very different, for a multitude of reasons.
The second plate (I call it Osiris) is the first time I’ve done a plate from a later competitor to the more famous plates. I believe this plate has the most balanced frequency response of any I’ve sampled so far, which doesn’t necessarily mean it sounds ‘better’, but it does sound really nice. It also sounds a lot different from any of the others I’ve done in this series.
Both of these plates were sampled an additional 4 times to produce 4 of my special ‘bionic’ versions. This uses a special technique I came up with, which involves sampling the hardware by playing the sampling tones at faster or slower speeds. It results in higher or lower ‘pitched’ (shifted freq response) reverbs, also with faster or slower decays. I made two higher and two lower pitched programs for each plate.
These 8 extra programs are complete with the sampled damper control just like the main/normal ones. These bionic versions may sound gimmicky, but they sound just as high quality as the main ones, and sometimes a slightly lower or higher pitched version of the reverb just sounds better for what you need.
There are also 10 additional programs I made by re-recording some of the bionic plate samples onto and off of reel to reel tape using three different decks, at different speeds. These taped plates offer even more variety!
Last but not least, these plates are now skinned with an excellent custom skin by Max Ponomaryov, aka azzimov! It works with both N3 and N4, and allows you to switch between multiple programs without losing your settings, which allows you to switch from a ‘lite’ program to the full version just before rendering.
You get access to four sample rates upon purchasing- 44.1khz, 48khz, 88.2khz, and 96khz.
