Product Description

This release of mine has recently been updated, and 5 taped plate reverbs which were ‘resampled’ onto and off of reel to reel tapes were added! I used 3 different decks at different speeds, providing some variety in tone. These do sound different from the main plate programs and in many cases you’ll probably prefer them!

A gold foil plate reverb was sampled to produce the programs in this release. These plates are smaller, and said to sound darker than the more well known model of plate I sampled for the first two parts of this series. The reverb programs you get with this release are a bit darker, and in my opinion much smoother, than the stereo plates sampled for parts 1 and 2, but not as dark as the tube driven mono ones in those releases. It definitely sounds unique!

Just like the previous ones, this plate was sampled for use in Nebula to include a fully functional, sampled dampening control. It sounds and works great. You won’t find too many other Nebula reverbs with sampled adjustable controls in them, besides some of the other ones I’ve done. If you’re worried about CPU usage, I’ve made lite versions of the programs that you can use while mixing to fine tune the settings as you like, before switching to the full versions to render.

There are plenty of bonuses, including a stereo swapped version, a ‘mono’ version that only uses the sampled left channel from the hardware for both of your channels going into Nebula, another that only uses the sampled right channel, and another special mono version that uses a mix of the sampled left and right channels for each of your input channels (which gives a thicker sound).

Then there’s a ‘bionic’ program, which contains 3 selectable variations of the gold plate sound. These were sampled using a trick I came up with several years ago and which involves playing/recording the tones used in the sampling process at faster or slower speeds. It gives you slightly ‘darker’ or ‘brighter’ versions to use and they sound just as good as the main program, but different. The last bonuses are the reel to reel ‘resampled’ reverbs which I made by running some of the main plate samples onto and off of reel to reel tape. A couple of these are very similar, but they all sound different from the main plate and give some additional options.

This release includes an excellent custom skin by Max Ponomaryov, aka azzimov! It works with both N3 and N4, and allows you to switch between multiple programs without losing your settings, which allows you to switch from a ‘lite’ program to the full version just before rendering.

You get access to four sample rates upon purchasing- 44.1khz, 48khz, 88.2khz, and 96khz.

Check out the manual for more info about what all is in the set.

This first one is a guitar. First you hear it dry, then with no damping (so, longest reverb tail), and then it keeps repeating with progressively more and more damping until the last one which is fully damped. Also, I jumped around between the variations of the program (original stereo, stereo swap, mono mix, mono L, and mono R). So you'll notice that they all sound a bit different. This is to give you an idea of the variety you can get from these reverbs.

This one is a vocal. I did this one the same as the guitar. Keep in mind that no EQ was used on the reverb in these, so the differences in tone that you hear is all from the damper control (which alters tone in a very natural way, as sampled from the hardware), and the use of the different stereo/mono versions. Also consider how much more variation you can get if you do use EQ (for example my special EQ program that comes with Plates of Legend I).

Drums. In this case, I just used the different different variations of the main reverb again, but mostly just using fully damped or very close to fully damped. The one exception is the 2nd reverbed one you hear which has a longer decay.

The same vocal as before, but this time it's going through the Golden Bionic bonus plate program. First dry, then you hear it with each of the 3 selectable reverbs in that program, with the longest decay each time. Notice that these are darker and brighter than the main version(s).
